July 24 will be an important day in Atlanta.  Freedom’s SISTERS, a Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit, will open at the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum and be with us until October 3.  The exhibit details twenty African-American women who fought, and are fighting, for rights and equality.  The group of women profiled represent common interests and diverse points of view on the way forward.  Some of them will be familiar from the headlines and history books, others are unsung.

It’s a worthwhile afternoon and I encourage you to make time to see it.   Tickets are affordable for adults and students and free for young people under 16, so it’s a great time to help educate a child in your life about the social movements of the past and present.

You can see exhibit details, as well as information about a Freedom’s SISTERS essay contest for 4th-8th graders on our events page.
